What is Russian ECO Manicure?

Russian ECO Manicure is a clean Russian-style manicure without polish. We carefully shape the nails, detail the cuticles and sidewalls, clean the nail plate, and finish with a natural, healthy look.

The word eco here does not mean the service is a 100% organic treatment. It means a lower-product finish: no gel polish, no color, no coating, and no UV/LED curing. It is perfect if you want neat, well-groomed nails without gel or color.

"Clean Russian cuticle work, shaped nails, and a natural finish - no gel or color needed."

The value of this service is in the preparation. Using an electric file with precision bits, the cuticle, pterygium, and dry skin around the nail are cleaned with detail. The nails are shaped to your preference, the nail plate is cleaned and refined, and the final result is natural rather than coated.

What happens during the appointment

The appointment is focused entirely on preparation, condition, and a clean natural finish. Every step has a purpose.

01
Dry preparation
Everything is done dry. No water, no soaking. Water causes the nail plate to swell, distorts the cuticle, and makes precise e-file work inaccurate. Keeping the nail dry from the start is what makes the cuticle removal clean and the final result exact.
02
Cuticle and sidewall prep
The cuticle and sidewall area is prepared with a gentle softening product when needed. This helps make the e-file stage more precise and reduces any risk of irritation.
03
E-file cuticle & pterygium removal
Using ceramic or carbide bits at controlled speed, the cuticle, pterygium, and dead skin around the nail are removed layer by layer. This is the defining step of Russian manicure — the result is a nail plate that is completely bare, and a nail line that is longer and cleaner than anything achievable with a pusher or scissors. The skin around the nail is left smooth, not raw.
The nail line you get here cannot be replicated any other way
04
Nail shaping
The nails are filed to your chosen shape — square, oval, almond, squoval, coffin, or any variation. The sides and free edge are refined for a clean, even silhouette. Shape is confirmed at the start of the appointment.
05
Nail plate smoothing & buffing
The nail plate surface is smoothed with a fine-grit bit to remove ridges and uneven texture. The nail is then lightly buffed to a soft, natural sheen — not a high gloss, but a clean, healthy-looking finish that makes the nail look polished without anything on it. This is done carefully to avoid thinning the nail plate.
Natural finish - no coating applied
06
Cuticle oil & hand cream
Cuticle oil is applied to each nail and worked into the surrounding skin. Hand cream is applied to leave the skin comfortable and hydrated. The nails are left clean, groomed, and in noticeably better condition than when you arrived.

Who books Russian ECO Manicure

There are many reasons to choose a Russian manicure without gel polish, color, or coating. These are the most common.

01
Giving nails a break
After months of gel or regular polish, the nail plate can benefit from time without any coating. This service keeps your nails tidy and well-shaped during the break, without putting anything back on top.
02
Recovering after gel removal
When gel is removed, especially hard gel or builder gel, the nail plate may need time before another coating is applied. Russian ECO Manicure cleans up the nail properly and lets it rest before the next service.
03
Preparing for Japanese Manicure
Japanese Manicure requires a completely bare, clean nail plate. If you are coming off gel and want to do a Japanese Manicure, we may recommend one Russian ECO Manicure first, then 2-3 weeks before the Japanese Manicure appointment.
04
Preferring bare nails
Some clients simply prefer the look of clean, natural nails. The cuticle work and shaping alone make a significant visual difference — nails that are well-shaped with a clean nail line look groomed even without any color.
05
Medical or professional requirements
Certain professions and medical settings require nails to be unpolished. Russian ECO Manicure keeps nails in excellent condition within those requirements: clean, trimmed, shaped, and professionally maintained.
06
Pregnant or breastfeeding
No gel polish, no color coating, and no UV/LED lamp. This is a lower-product nail service for clients who want their nails maintained with a clean natural finish.

Coming off gel? Start here.

If you currently have gel on your nails and want to transition to natural nail care or Japanese Manicure, Russian ECO Manicure is often the right first step. It is not always possible to do a Japanese Manicure immediately after gel removal, and we do not recommend rushing that process.

Removing gel completely, especially hard gel or Gel-X, can leave the nail plate sensitive. A no-polish appointment gives us a clean way to shape, detail, and maintain the nails while they recover.

Visit 1 — gel removal + Russian ECO manicure. Let the nail plate rest completely.
Wait 2–3 weeks. The nail strengthens and the plate returns to its normal condition.
Visit 2 — Japanese Manicure, or Russian manicure with your chosen finish.
Our approach
We tell you what's best for your nails, not what's easiest to book

If we recommend Russian ECO Manicure before your next treatment, it is because we know the result will be better for it. Rushing the process can lead to a disappointing outcome, and we'd rather give you nails that are genuinely in good condition.

Common questions

FAQ

Yes. The cuticle work, shaping, nail plate cleaning, and light buffing make bare nails look deliberately groomed. The finish is natural and healthy-looking, not coated, so there is no gel polish, color, or UV/LED curing.

Yes. Russian ECO Manicure does not commit you to bare nails long term. You can come back for gel polish, regular polish, Japanese Manicure, hard gel, or builder gel at a later appointment. This appointment simply leaves the nail plate clean and uncoated.

No — when done correctly, it is not painful. The e-file operates at the appropriate speed for each stage and the technique is deliberate and precise. First-time clients, or those coming off gel with sensitized nails, may feel some awareness during the cuticle work, but discomfort should not be part of a well-executed Russian manicure. If anything feels uncomfortable, let us know and we adjust immediately.

Every two to four weeks, depending on how quickly your nails grow and how important the cuticle area is to you. The cuticle and pterygium regrow continuously — regular appointments keep the nail line clean and the nail plate in good condition. If you're using this service as a recovery period between gel appointments, one or two sessions over 4–6 weeks is usually sufficient before moving on to your next treatment.

Pterygium is the thin transparent tissue that grows from the cuticle area onto the nail plate itself. It is distinct from the cuticle and adheres directly to the nail surface. Even without polish, leaving it in place makes the nail look uneven and less clean — and it contributes to the nail plate appearing shorter than it actually is. Removing it with an e-file reveals the full nail plate and is what creates the characteristically clean, elongated nail line that Russian manicure is known for.

No. In this service, eco means a more natural, lower-product manicure: no gel polish, no color coating, no UV/LED curing, and fewer nail materials left on the nail plate. It is still a professional Russian-style dry manicure, not a claim that every product used is 100% organic.
