Moisture seal
Seals the nail surface, locks in moisture, and creates the lasting natural shine.
A natural nail treatment that nourishes, strengthens, and leaves nails with a soft pink-pearl shine — no polish, no coating, no UV lamp required.
Also known as P.Shine
Japanese Manicure — also known as the P.Shine method — is a natural nail treatment rooted in Japanese traditions of nail care that prioritize health over decoration. Where most Western manicure systems focus on coating the nail with color or product, this technique takes the opposite approach: nourishing the natural nail from within, improving its structure, and revealing its own inherent beauty.
The treatment uses a two-step process. First, a vitamin-rich paste — containing beeswax, silica from Japanese sea minerals, bee pollen, keratin, and nourishing vitamins — is massaged into the nail plate using specialized chamois leather buffers. The buffing technique generates gentle heat that opens the nail layers and allows the ingredients to penetrate deeply. Then a fine mineral powder is applied to seal in the nutrients and create a smooth, even finish.
"The result is a natural pink-pearl luster that becomes part of the nail structure itself — growing out with the nail rather than chipping away."
Because the shine is integrated into the nail structure rather than applied on top, it behaves completely differently from lacquer or gel. It softens and fades gradually over two to three weeks as the nail grows — there is nothing to chip, nothing to pick, and no harsh removal process. Just healthy nails, at their best.
Results vary depending on nail condition and previous coatings.
The paste at the heart of a Japanese Manicure is what makes it fundamentally different from any other nail treatment. It contains a concentrated blend of natural active ingredients — beeswax, sea silica, bee pollen, keratin, pearl powder, and vitamins — that work together to restore, strengthen, and protect the nail plate not from the outside, but from within.
Seals the nail surface, locks in moisture, and creates the lasting natural shine.
Helps fill micro-cracks and ridges so the nail looks smoother and more even.
Adds the soft, clean shine that makes the finish look polished without polish.
Supports stronger nails over repeated sessions and helps reduce peeling.
Nourishes the nail and cuticle while supporting healthier-looking growth.
Massaged in using leather buffers, the friction creates gentle warmth that helps the ingredients penetrate deep into the nail layers. Nails become stronger, smoother, and noticeably thicker with regular sessions. The paste also actively fills micro-cracks and surface ridges — the main cause of brittleness and dullness over time. Unlike gel or BIAB systems that rely on chemical bonding and UV curing, this process requires no dehydrators, no lamps, and no harsh removal — so there is no nail dehydration or damage as a result.
The short answer is: almost everyone. Because it uses only natural, food-grade ingredients and requires no UV lamps or chemicals, it is one of the most inclusive nail treatments available. Here are the clients who tend to benefit most.
Please note: Japanese Manicure is a natural nail treatment and cannot be applied over gel, acrylic, or any existing coating. If you currently have gel polish and would like to transition to natural nail care, we can remove the gel during your visit. However, we recommend scheduling your Japanese Manicure about one week after the removal, as the nail plate and cuticle can be very sensitive immediately afterward, and the treatment may feel uncomfortable. We’ll advise you on the best approach.
We get this question often. The short answer: we can remove gel during your visit, but the Japanese Manicure itself is usually best scheduled after the nail has had time to calm down.
This gives the nail plate and cuticle time to settle, so the paste and buffing stage feel comfortable and the final shine looks cleaner.
All coating has to be removed down to the bare natural nail. Japanese Manicure cannot work through gel residue.
The nail plate and cuticle can be sensitive immediately after removal. A short pause makes the treatment much more comfortable.
The paste is applied to a clean, calmer nail plate, giving you a smoother finish and a better natural shine.
Freshly exposed nails can feel tender after complete gel removal. Buffing the paste into an already sensitive nail may feel uncomfortable, especially if the previous coating was thick or difficult to remove.
We will not refuse, but we want you to understand the limitation in advance. When Japanese Manicure is performed immediately after gel removal, comfort and final quality can be less predictable.
Our approach: We recommend what is genuinely best for your nails, not what is most convenient in the moment. If we suggest waiting about one week, it is because we know you will get a more comfortable treatment and a better result.
You have an active nail infection, open cuts, inflammation, or irritation around the nail area.
Your nails are extremely thin, painful, or freshly damaged after aggressive gel, acrylic, or Gel-X removal.
You currently have gel, acrylic, builder gel, or any coating that cannot be fully removed before treatment.
Need to know
The natural shine from the beeswax paste and mineral powder typically lasts two to three weeks, depending on your nail condition, previous coatings, nail type, and daily activities. Because the luster is integrated into the nail structure rather than applied on top, there is nothing to chip — it simply softens gradually as the nail grows out. With regular sessions, the overall condition of the nail plate improves, and the shine tends to last longer over time.
Yes, regular nail polish can be applied over the finished treatment if you prefer color. However, most clients who come for Japanese Manicure choose to leave the nails natural — the whole point is the shine that comes from the nail itself. If you apply polish, you won't see the natural finish, but the nail will still benefit from the conditioning treatment underneath.
Japanese Manicure is performed on natural nails only — the paste and powder need direct contact with the nail plate to work. If you have gel polish, we can remove the gel during your visit. However, we usually recommend scheduling the Japanese Manicure about one week after removal, because the nail plate and cuticle can be very sensitive immediately afterward and the treatment may feel uncomfortable. We'll advise you on the best approach for your specific nail condition.
Most clients come every two to four weeks, which aligns with the natural nail growth cycle and keeps the nails in consistently good condition. For nails that are recovering from damage or previous gel use, more frequent initial sessions can help rebuild the nail plate faster. We'll give you a personal recommendation after your first visit.
Yes — the shine is visible immediately after the first session, and nails feel noticeably smoother. The cuticle area also looks significantly tidier thanks to dry cuticle preparation using our Russian manicure technique. The deeper benefits — stronger nails, fewer cracks, improved texture, and better growth — become more apparent over repeated sessions, as the treatment rebuilds the nail structure progressively with each visit.
The treatment contains no harsh chemicals, no UV lamps, and no solvents — which makes it one of the most pregnancy-friendly nail treatments available. As always, we recommend consulting your doctor if you have any specific concerns, but in general Japanese Manicure is considered a safe option for pregnant clients who want to maintain their nails without chemical exposure.
The treatment is gentle and comfortable throughout. The dry cuticle preparation uses our Russian manicure technique for careful, precise cuticle work, which most clients find relaxing rather than uncomfortable when done correctly. The paste application and buffing stages are generally pleasant. If you have very sensitive skin around the cuticles, please let us know before the appointment.
